ICYOUth has received a generous grant from FRRR ;
This grant provides a kitchen equipped to feed and train youth in life cooking skills. A place they can learn meal preparation, nutrition and how to prepare simple, quick meals. Young people will gain skills and knowledge of how to choose healthy options, budgeting, preparation and cooking that they will use for life.
The program will deliver life skill training in food selection, preparation and cooking
to youth at the youth centre. This will be carried out via the after school workshops.
Therefore we need appropriate kitchen area and equipment for this.
Food is a natural gatherer and in the youth centre environment, teenagers are often hungry.
The kitchen facilities will be integral in gathering the young people where they will learn
important techniques and skills to be able to feed themselves nutritious food.
The FRRR funds will purchase 2 x stainless steel benches, stove, dishwasher and kitchen equipment.
We are very thankful to FRRR for this grant. Thank you.
Mobile Maintenance Mission - MMM
Superheros, MMM came to do volunteer construction work with us.
These amazing retired men and women toiled for 2 weeks along side our team and tradies.
They were an awesome group of people that had a heart for helping us help the young people of our community. Selfless, hard work. Thank you Mobile Maintenance Mission. Total Legends !!
We are very thankful to FRRR for this grant. Thank you.
Legends!!! - 3 more grants were received at ICYOUth centre
We have received another FRRR generous grant for renovations of toilets and concrete floors
throughout the centre. This has allowed us to make the whole environment smooth and all
abilities access to the entire centre. We 1 disabled toilet and 2 x ambulant toilets too.
The project started and was completed in 2020. Thank you FRRR again !! you guys are champions !!
We also received 2 massive grants from the NSW Government.
1 grant was for extensive renovations throughout the building enabling us to see our vision fulfilled for a fun, safe, interactive space with a separate kitchen area, offices, multipurpose use auditorium, Chill zone and a dedicated "Study Sesh" room for training, homework assistance and more.
The 2nd grant from NSW Government is for 3 years of operating costs for the youth centre.
It covers things such as electricity and utilities, bus running costs, insurances, etc.
This ensures the programs can keep running and sure takes the pressure off the committees involved.
So we would like to shout out a big THANK YOU for these 2 generous grants to ensure the centre
is up and running in a professional way.
The grand opening was amazing!!
Approximately 75 people attended. Adam Marshall MP was there to officially cut the red ribbon to open the youth centre. There were many invited guests such as Mayor Paul Harmond, various councillers, Police representatives, school principals and staff and many organisations and NGOs present too.
The wonderful Rotary club gave out fairy floss and sausage sizzle was popular. The young people chose music and video clips to be playing at the event. Study Sesh tutoring and homework support was exhibited with our great volunteers doing that. Certificates of appreciation were given to various business places that donated or supported the centre to get it to this stage. It was a huge success!!
Thank you to all involved, the great ICYOUth team, Rotary and the many organisations who supported us.
very thankful to FRRR for this grant. Thank you.
